Check out tons of reviews on the internet on this Sawback 5xx bike–the consensus is that this is an incredible bang-for-buck bike. It is. Its loads of fun.
I’ve had a carbon fiber Gary Fisher bike for year which I’ve been loyal to. That bike is just wonderful, and I’ve put serious time and miles on it. But I decided to just have a decent spare bike for friends who visit. I did the research and decided to take a chance on this bike.
The bike arrived about a week later. Assembly was super simple. I had to make some tweaks–its not going to be setup the way you like when you first get it. Right away I was impressed with the weight–this is not terribly that much more weight than my carbon fiber bike. One thing I didn’t like were the shocks. I tightened up the shocks that come with the bike (RockShox Dart 1)–way too loose but not too bad when tightened to the max. At first I wasn’t too impressed with the disc brakes either but after a few days of use they started working pretty good. I had to use them in action to really know.
After goofing off with the bike for a few days I had to put it to real use. I finally took the bike on some technical trails–both uphill and downhill. Wow, this bike is awesome. I mean for $400? Fugetaboutit! No regrets. This bike is NICE. It just works as a general all-mountain bike should. Worth every penny. I can’t believe this is a bike sold through Target! Way to go Forge Bikes!!

|Amazing for the price,
I purchased this bike over a year ago. Looks like the bike is still the same and a year later it’s still amazing (and costs almost $100 less!) I tend to bike intermediate-level trails and this bike has stood up to every challenge. After realizing that I hated riding full suspension bikes, I began looking for a replacement. I’m 5′ 10″ and weigh 180 lbs and the bike fits me well. No longer do I have a rear shock absorbing all my uphill efforts. Want to raise the front tire a bit? Easy, the rear shock isn’t there to make this more difficult! The shifters have worked flawlessly with zero adjustment out of the box. Derailures function properly and keep each gear feeling ‘locked-in’. The disc brakes are nice and give a wide range of brakage before locking the tire up. I dont think I could have gotten more bike for the money and it looks like the current selling price is even lower. Do yourself a favor. Get this bike and get outside!

|Great quality and features for the price.,
This bike came mostly assembled and was very easy to put together. Just to be safe I took it to a local bike shop to get tightened and tuned. They had never heard of the brand, but said the add-on parts (i.e. shocks, shifters, wheels, brakes, pedals, etc.) were all brands/features typical of bikes in the 600-800 range. I have had it for a year now and have no complaints other than the seat being uncomfortable, but most are! I did have a horrible experience with Target online, which is where this bike is sold, but I hope others will not have any issues. You will not be disappointed in this bike if you want quality for less!
